Community Spotlight: Getting to Know Susan
To help our readers get to know Susan better, we asked her a few fun questions:
What was the last movie you saw?
The last movie I watched was Barbie. I went to the cinema with my two daughters, and we fully embraced the experience by dressing up—just like many in the audience! It was such a fun and vibrant atmosphere. While I love a trip to the movies, I usually watch films on Netflix as it’s more convenient and accessible with a busy schedule.
What’s your favourite TV show?
It’s hard to pick just one! I really enjoy shows like Utopia, and growing up in the UK, I was a huge fan of Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister. I also appreciate a bit of escapism with series like Selling Sunset.
Which podcasts are you currently listening to?
I’m not much of a podcast listener—I tend to gravitate more toward Spotify. I love upbeat dance music, anything with great energy that lifts the mood and keeps me going!
What books have you read lately?
The last book I read was The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins. It’s a powerful and thought-provoking read, offering a life-changing mindset shift that teaches you to focus on what you can control—yourself—rather than trying to control others.
Which accounts do you follow on social media?
I follow a wide mix of political, social, and food-related accounts—too many to mention individually. In addition to my Councillor page, I also run Welcome to Point Cook and Wyndham Dining, both of which keep me connected with our vibrant local community. Staying informed and engaged is so important—knowledge is power!
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give a younger version of yourself?
I would tell my younger self: Focus on the people who truly appreciate you. You won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s okay. What matters is finding those who uplift and support you—your people. Cherish those connections and invest your energy where it truly counts.
